Helping Hedgehogs On Monday Miss Taylor and Mrs Wreglesworth went to Tiggywinkles to collect four hedgehogs which had been taken to the animal hospital because they had been injured. As Year 2 have been learning about animals in topic work, each class named a hedgehog. 2K called their hedgehog Prickles, 2T called their Hedgy, 2M called their hedgehog Spike and 2F called theirs Henry. The hedgehogs were put in their houses at the side of the Year 2 block and then released later that night when it was dark in a quiet area. Miss Taylor put some food and water out for the hedgehogs. The special houses were built by Mr Hatton and Mr Andrews. We all enjoyed looking at the photographs the next day, as the hedgehogs settled into their new home.

Potato Picking
In July we raked away the soil from the potatoes in the kitchen garden that we planted in April. We picked all the potatoes and some were very small! Then we took the potatoes inside and weighed them and put them into reused plastic bags. We carried them onto the playground at the end of the day where Miss Taylor had a table and some signs to say how much they were. We also picked and sold some lettuce. Everything in our garden is organic which means that we don’t put chemicals on the fruit and vegetables to keep insects away. Everything sold really quickly. We made £25 which we have sent to Sudan to buy zeer pots which will help people to keep their food fresh for longer, like our refrigerators.
