Bedgrove Infant School

Remote Learning

Bedgrove Infant School has remained open for learning throughout the lockdowns of 2020 and 2021, mostly remotely for the majority of our children.

We identify and provide places and/or resources for pupils who meet the government’s criteria for ‘vulnerable’. In challenging circumstances, we have been able to provide high quality learning to all pupils ensuring that no child was disadvantaged during this time.

Our Virtual Classroom

In the event of a school closure, either due to a lockdown or due to shutting down a class ‘bubble’, our teachers will provide a virtual lessons through the use of Seesaw. We will also provide lessons to individual children who need to isolate due to contracting Covid or are awaiting PCR results. All children have a login that will give the children access to offline lessons. Seesaw is a fantastic app which allows teachers to upload videos of themselves teaching and create interactive tasks for the children to respond to. Once a child has responded to this task, the teachers can mark and provide feedback to continue the vital learning relationship between teacher and pupil.

How do I access Seesaw?

All children have a QR code which is their own personal login. Please contact your child’s teacher via the class email address if you have not received yours. Your child will need access to a device; tablet, desktop or laptop (a smart phone is possible but less ideal as the screen is so small.) If you require any support with technological resources, please contact the school and we will do everything possible to support you.

Mental Health and Well-Being

We appreciate that home schooling is very challenging, particularly for parents who are also attempting to work from home. If you are struggling, please contact your child’s class teacher via the class email address if you and your child need any support, encouragement or resources and we will be happy to help. All of your efforts to continue the children’s learning at home is very much appreciated.

Times are tough right now and we recognise the challenges lockdown and learning from home can have on mental health and well-being of the families in our school community. If you feel overwhelmed at all by any of the obstacles that you face at home, please get in touch with use and we will do our best to help.
